Ireland Children’s Allowance 2024
The children’s allowance is part of the cost of living allowance which was announced in budget 2024. The amount is the monthly deposit issued to the parents or the guardians of the dependent children below 18 years old. There are certain eligibility criteria to be followed to receive the amount. The basic requirements for receiving the amount are discussed in this section.
- The parents should be permanent residents of the country. They should provide the documents that prove their residency.
- If the child is under shared custody, one of the spouses should be residing in the country.
- One of the parents should have an employment history.
- The tax returns of the previous year should be filled till the date of disbursement.
The disabled candidates should provide the documents that prove their disability. The documents should be the medical history and the pharmaceutical prescriptions assigned by the concerned doctors.

The amount for the children’s allowance will be disbursed as the monthly paychecks. The candidates will notice the increased paychecks from the new fiscal year. Ireland Children’s Allowance Amount 2024
The amount issued to the candidates is based on the family income and the expenditure of the household. The amount is issued for each child in the family. As per the budget 2024, the child allowance will be increased and the children will be receiving double payments as the monthly deposit. The amount can be disbursed as a weekly payment. The calculation for the weekly deposit is converting the amount by multiplying by 12 and then dividing by 52. The amount will be distributed with the direct deposit method.

How to Apply for Ireland Children’s Allowance?
The parents should apply for the child benefit before the birth or within 6 months of the child coming into the family. The month when the family came to live in the country.
When the newborn baby is born they are registered with the Department of Social Protection. The child will be provided with a unique Personal Public Service Number.
- The application form for the allowance is available on the official portal of MyWelfare.
- The parents need to fill in the required details about the child and provide the required documents such as a birth certificate.
- They should include the details about their personal information, and contact number, and register the account to receive the deposit.
- If the family already has the allowance for the first child, they can update the details about the second child in the same account.
- They will receive the amount for each child individually.
If the child is not born in Ireland or has not applied for the Allowance within 3 months they should apply for a Child Benefit Form(CB1) and send the application to the Child Benefit section. Children around 16 to 17 years old and are dependent should reapply for the benefit by filling out the CB2 form.
